KOTA KINABALU: The Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Illegal Immigrants in Sabah has submitted the outcome of its investigation to Yang DiPertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
RCI chairman Tan Sri Steve Shim Lip Kiong, who is also former Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, told reporters that it was up to the government to decide on the report which was completed early this year.
He declined to elaborate further.
“All I can say is, the public will know when the report is released,” he said after leading the RCI panel on a courtesy call to Yang DiPertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at Istana Negeri here yesterday.
The Commission set up on Sept 21, 2012, called 211 witnesses including former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before closing the case on Sept 20 last year. — Bernama
