Fire destroys gensets in Semporna island – SESB

SEMPORNA: SEMPORNA: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) suffered RM500,000 in losses after its rural generator sets (gensets) in Pulau Lihat-Lihat Power Station, 50km from here, was destroyed in a fire early Monday.
Its senior general manager (Asset Management), Ir Ahmad Fuad Md Kasim said the fire, which broke out at 11.30am, also caused power disruption to 45 of its registered users in Kampung Bakung-Bakung, Kampung Tampi and the surrounding areas.
“Mobile gensets have been installed by SESB to provide temporary power supply to the affected residents,” he said in a statement here yesterday.
The fire was later put out by a team from the district Fire and Rescue Department.
Ahmad Fuad said the actual cause of fire was still being investigated.

Two Filipino security guards gets a month's jail for fake IDs

PETALING JAYA: Two Philippine security guards who pleaded guilty to having fake Identity Cards (ICs), were sentenced to a month's jail today and deportation upon completing the sentence.

Yusri Sambiron, 41, and Totoh Sabatal, 40, were accused of committing the offences at Bayan Villa Guardhouse 2, Sri Kembangan Selangor here around 1.15am today.
Yusri was caught using a false IC bearing the name Norazman Abdillah No. 701113-12-5135. 
Totoh was arrested for using an IC belonging to Abdulzan Ludjuman, 42, without valid authorisation.
Yusri and Totoh hailed  from Tipuk and Zamboanga, the Philippines, respectively.
They were charged under Rule 25(1)(e) National Registration Rules 1990 (2007 Amendment), which carried three years' jail, RM20,000 fine, or both.   
Both were ordered to serve their jail terms starting today.
They were also ordered be sent to the Immigration Department for deportation to their home country after serving their jail term. 
Yusri was charged before magistrate K.B. Elena Hong Tze Lan while Totoh's case was heard before magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid.
National Registration Department prosecuting officer Zubaidah Zahol Ahmad prosecuted while both accused were not represented.
