PENAMPANG: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sabah will be organizing a public dialogue to discuss issues related to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on immigrants in Sabah tomorrow, Thursday.
The event, to be attended by DAP leader Lim Kit Siang, will be held at Star City Convention Centre, starting at 2 pm, according to DAP Sabah assistant secretary Junz Wong.
“Other leaders will also participate in the discussion, including former Tuaran MP Datuk Wilfred Tangau, former Suhakam Commissioner Tan Sri Simon Sipaun and social activist Dr Chong Eng Leong,” he told a press conference here yesterday.
Junz said the public are invited to attend the dialogue to express their views and sentiments on the RCI and the illegal immigrant issue in general.
He said a public talk will also be held on the same day in Kg. Melawa, next to Salut Commercial Centre, in Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park, Sepanggar from 7pm.
“Lim, who has been fighting over the illegal immigrant issue since the 80s and is the writer of The Cries of Sabah, will deliberate on the RCI and its impact on the state.
Junz noted that there have been many shocking revelations throughout the first session of the RCI proceedings from Jan 14 to Jan 18.
“None of the BN component parties, not even former member Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), have made a stand on the findings of the RCI so far.
“Are they going to continue to turn a blind eye to the things that have been revealed by the witnesses, or at least tell us how they are planning to rectify these wrongdoings,” he asked.
