Meanwhile, PBS Sec-Gen Datuk Johnny Mositun said the invite by DAP Sabah Vice Chief Chan Foong Hin for party president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan to attend the DAP forum on Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants' problems in Sabah was a shallow attempt at cheap publicity and political mileage.
"From the list of speakers DAP has invited it is obvious the forum will turn out to be a BN-bashing affair. What then is the point in 'challenging' both leaders (Pairin and Rahman) to attend?" Mositun said, Thursday.
He said Chan seemed unaware that the Working Committee to be chaired by Pairin had yet to be officially set up. "The two committees as announced by the Government have yet to be formed. The letters of appointment, the composition of the committees and the Terms of Reference (TOR) have yet to be finalised. "Even when all are done, those appointed will have to formally accept their appointments. Until then it would be out of place for Pairin to pre-empt or try to unduly influence the authorities concerned by making public statements on the matter," Mositun said.
He said DAP or any organisations were free to hold forums or discussions on the issue and submit their views and findings to the Government.
Mositun said the views of Pairin and PBS on illegals and the issuance of Malaysian citizenship and identity documents to unqualified foreigners need no elaboration.
"PBS and Pairin do not need DAP or Chan to tell us what we must or not do…The same with the BN Government and leaders, they too do not need DAP or Chan to teach them what to do or how to act on the RCI Report," Mositun said.
